Skills for Life

Menston St Johns Scout Group has over 150 young people enrolled in its sections and enjoying lots of #adventure #challenge and learning #skillsforlife. The Menston Guiding sections have a further 80 young people in their unit #findingtheirvoice and making a positive difference in their community. Section meetings are mainly held at the Group Headquarters on the edge of the park in Menston in West Yorkshire with some overspill to the Parish Room at St Johns Church.

Welcome to Menston Scouts
& Guides

Here in Menston, every week, more than 60 volunteers empower hundreds of young people to learn new skills, make new friends and grow into their potential. They shape young people’s lives for the better, and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too.

Today, there are young people on our waiting list wanting to join Menston Scouting and Guiding and begin their adventure! We’re more relevant and more needed than ever, but it’s not always easy to keep up with the demand.

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Training, guidance and support is all provided. Get involved!

We are also starting a major project to replace our dilapidated old hut for a new HQ – so we are starting to raise a £1 million – find out more here.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
