We are the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 4-to-25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help and serve others so that we make a positive impact in communities. Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Our members gain valuable skills for life including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.
Scouting is available to people of all faiths as well as people who are humanist, atheist or have no affirmed faith and therefore must take account of the different religious obligations or non-religious beliefs of its Members.
Similarly, people of other nationalities resident in the United Kingdom, who may become Members of the Association, owe allegiance to their own Country. To meet these circumstances, there are different variations of the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Promise, allowing for the individual’s personal beliefs while upholding the spirit of the Promise.
Here in Menston we are a key part of the community with over 70 adult volunteers (including Trustees, Leaders, Activity instructors and Helpers) and nearly 200 young people participating weekly. We support the wider village events like The Annual Menston Show in September, and the Light Up event at Christmas, as well as putting on the Big Sing for the public and organising a visit from Santa himself who tours the village in his sleigh.
